“Several students who have recently started Buena Vista University’s new online Master of Arts in Education Administration program have shared that the opportunity to engage with realistic school simulations was a major factor in their decision to enroll. That feedback is incredibly encouraging because we designed the program with the belief that aspiring building principals need opportunities to practice leadership—not simply learn about it.
Throughout the master’s program, students will encounter at least two realistic simulations embedded in each course, allowing them to work through authentic leadership challenges and make decisions in a safe, supportive environment. Students can also complete additional simulations to supplement their internship hours, giving them even more opportunities to practice responding to the complex situations they will face as school leaders.
The simulations help bridge the gap between theory and practice. They engage students in meaningful, scenario-based experiences while helping them build the confidence, judgment, communication skills, and problem-solving abilities they will need to lead schools effectively. Our goal is to prepare aspiring building principals not just to understand educational leadership, but to be ready to step into the role and lead from day one.”
"Our primary goal was to streamline the professional learning process and provide targeted growth opportunities. SchoolSims offered both synchronous and asynchronous options, which meant participants could engage with the simulations at their own pace or in group settings. The platform’s flexibility allowed us to address specific areas of practice tailored to individual needs.”
